When our customers talk, we listen

In August we launch Sage 50 Accounts 2013 and as MD of the Small Business Division at Sage, this is the most exciting time of the year.  I say that because this is the point when the World can see if we have listened and understood the feedback from our customers and have put some of those learning’s in to practice in the product itself.

This is my first launch ‘start to finish’ of Sage 50 Accounts having joined Sage just over a year ago and  I was very keen to understand from our customers and partners what the big challenges and opportunities were for this launch.  This doesn’t necessarily mean we have done everything you asked, but it does mean we understood, prioritised and invested in the areas that will make the biggest difference to our customers and prospects.

This year two key themes really stood out – continuing the work we have done in improving usability (and in particular the experience for new customers to Sage 50 Accounts), and equally importantly focusing on a key challenge made by our loyal customer base – how we take our reporting capability to a new level.

As you would expect there are a number of other improvements we have made to the product this year, but I was pleased to see us consolidate the inputs and focus on three areas.  I say three because as the MD I had one area that I wanted us to drive in addition to the two key topics out of our research, and that was Mobile.

Sage 50 Accounts Mobile is a unique part of the Sage 50 Accounts 2013 launch. When we put Sage 50 Accounts Mobile together a year ago the dominant mobile operating platforms were Apple and BlackBerry.  The last twelve months has seen huge acceleration in Android with it now becoming the most used platform – Sage 50 Accounts Mobile now works for Apple, BlackBerry and for Android.

These three developments come at a time when mobility, ease of use and access to key information are critical for small business leaders.  In combination with Sage 50 Accounts Mobile you have a unique offering that provides real-time information, wherever you are, and on the three most prevalent mobile platforms in the world, whether you are using a mobile device or tablet.

I am really excited about Sage 50 Accounts 2013 and would love to know what you think – by the way, did I mention that Sage 50 Accounts Mobile is completely free!
