Progress and grow by being unique

As Gabrielle Bernstein says “Don’t dance around the perimeter of the person you want to be.” So often we compare ourselves to others and think that we are not good enough, however, we all offer amazing gifts to the world.

Your uniqueness is your true self that creates a valuable authentic perspective, so why rob the world of your potential? If you are keeping yourself small, then it does not serve the world to hold back with fear of failure, when your failures are your greatest lessons that create your unique perspective.

There is no one else configured to behave with your distinct characters in everything you do, which is why there is something amazing about you. To excel, you must differentiate yourself, be identifiable and memorable. Differentiating yourself and your company will save you money, time, aggravation and missed business opportunities. However, it is not easy to stand out for sameness; your uniqueness demands you to know who you are, what values you stand for and to demonstrate your unique perspective.

Every person and every company has unique abilities to offer – whether a combination of skills, talents and perspective – it is critical that you discover what these unique abilities are. What specific results do you deliver? How is what you do different? What added value do you offer? What is unique about you?

Your Difference

The truth is, you are already unique, and there is a reason for this. You may believe that you do not have what it takes to make a difference in the world. Moreover, you may think only people like Mahatma Gandhi, Bill Gates, and the likes, are capable of making a difference.

Scientists have quantified genetically how different humans are from each other. The fact that your DNA is unique to you, means you have a responsibility to seek ways to contribute and make your difference in your own unique way.

Your difference need not be anything out of this world; your contribution is like a tiny pebble making a ripple that gravitates into bigger circles. The collective effort of everyone making a small contribution creates a big difference. What difference are you here to make?

Your Greatness

Why is it we can easily see greatness in other people? We have no problem recognising the talents of others, encourage them to take action, to go after their dreams. Then when someone mentions how good you are at something; you will feel uncomfortable. You are trained from childhood to be humble, to denying your talents, this stems from an antiquated belief, that you are unworthy.

We are taught not to be conceited and arrogant but to be humble is virtuous. Arrogance is believing you are better than anyone else, acknowledging your greatness is ‘We are all great, and so am I.’ Not recognising your greatness is abdicating your responsibility. Recognition of greatness with humility is encouraging everyone to make a difference in the world and that your contribution counts.

By honouring yourself and others you move closer to who you truly are; your truth knows your greatness. You never doubt your talents, your gifts and your contribution. Why not admit to yourself and others who you are, that you not only count but you are here to make a unique difference.

What is your Greatness?

The beauty of this process is that you find your uniqueness and the difference in you, and you then appreciate and look for the uniqueness and difference in others. Beit your customers, colleagues, employees, family and friends. Your ability to see your greatness helps you to see how you can be better. You help your customers and colleagues feel special because you are confident in your unique abilities. You look for opportunities to add real and perceived value.

If you want to help others, shine your light as brightly as you can, and those who want to will benefit from your greatness. Making a difference in everything you do is worthy of your attention.
